Educators plan, provide, and evaluate the impact of professional learning for educators and leaders to advance teaching and learning with technology.
What Is: This Key Assessment document and its accompanying microlearning module were developed to increase our client's professional knowledge of digital storytelling.
Process: Working with my classmate, we set out to identify knowledge gaps and priorities in implementing digital storytelling by a media specialist at an elementary school. We began by conducting a needs analysis, which revealed our client's lack of knowledge on digital storytelling. Based on our findings, we identified the key issues that needed to be addressed, prioritized the needs, and made recommendations.
Our next step was creating a microlearning module to deliver our professional development session to our client. We used Canva to design the slides, selected relevant media resources, and created an interactive presentation on the Nearpod platform. After delivering the final product to our client, we collected her feedback and crafted an implementation report with our reflection on the whole process.
Connect: This artifact demonstrates a direct connection to planning, providing, and evaluating the impact of professional learning for our client, an elementary school media specialist. By carefully following all the steps of the process, we made sure that our client's knowledge was significantly improved and she was comfortable using digital storytelling with her students.
What Is: This Technology Integration Project was developed for an elementary school in Cobb County to explore the potential of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the school level to help personalize learning for all students.
Process: As part of our group project to adapt an innovative solution, Artificial Intelligence (AI), at an elementary school, our team created a plan for assessing the current status of knowledge and skills in relation to AI at the client elementary school. We developed and administered data collection measures and analyzed the results. Based on the findings, our team made recommendations on how the professional development needs of various stakeholders should be addressed. Our recommendations provided a highly structured and detailed plan for the adoption of the innovation. One of the vital components of our plan was targeted professional learning of the key stakeholders.
Connect: Working on this project involved assessing current knowledge of the school staff, identifying knowledge gaps, and developing a plan for the adoption of the innovation. One of the most important features of the plan was creating professional development opportunities for the educators to bridge the identified knowledge gap, and evaluating their impact, which directly aligns with the standard.
Working on these artifacts strengthened my ability to design and implement experiences not only for students, but also for my colleagues. I was able to design learning solutions aimed at advancing teaching and learning with technology. The digital storytelling module allowed me to conduct a needs analysis, create targeted professional development, and evaluate its effectiveness through feedback. The microlearning module had a direct impact on the media specialist’s confidence in using digital storytelling with students. Developing a plan for the adoption of AI technology at an elementary school allowed me to work on a larger scale, assessing staff knowledge, identifying gaps, and creating a structured plan for adoption that centered on professional learning for key players - teachers and media specialists. These experiences allowed me to try my hand at designing learning solutions for adult professionals. I was able to see how careful planning, delivery, and evaluation of professional learning can empower teachers to integrate technology into their daily practice and affect their students.
